Communication Between School and Parents/Carers
As you can see, our website has a wealth of information for parents and carers. All of the planned events are listed on the calendar so you can keep your diary up to date. We also have policies, information about the Trust, news, galleries, curriculum information, etc.
Children bring letters home regularly, both from the school office, teachers or from outside providers who will contact families in order to promote opportunities available to the children. Teachers ensure that all children are given letters, either by handing them out on the way out of the class or by putting them into children’s book bags. It is essential that parents and carers check book bags each evening so that important information is not missed. Newsletters are usually sent home regularly (usually fortnightly) and are always emailed and copied to the website on the same day. Newsletters have important dates and information for you to note so please make an effort to access them electronically if you think your child has ‘misplaced’ his or her letter between leaving the classroom and getting to you.
Each half term parents receive a letter detailing the routines and learning for their child’s class, this gives detailed curriculum information. These are also saved on the school website.

Those of you who like to Tweet can find us at @BroadwayEast1st. We use the account to give extra snippets of daily news and to promote the work of the school to our followers. It has grown in popularity and has really become a window into life at Broadway East.
If we need to contact you in an emergency we will either telephone (usually in the event of a child feeling unwell or having an accident) or text (usually for urgent messages to groups of parents such as school closure in bad weather or the cancellation of a club). Teachers or non teaching staff will contact parents and carers in the appropriate way if they need to report an incident or inform you about something significant which has happened in school.
Parents and carers should contact the school immediately if they have any concerns, in all cases teachers and non-teaching staff will always have time to listen. We also need to know if circumstances change at home, if there has been a significant change or event in the family (bereavement, new baby, new house, new living arrangements etc.) as this helps us to support children effectively through times of change or difficulties. Parents and carers must also notify school immediately of any changes to contact details, including mobile numbers as they are used by the school’s text service and to contact you in an emergency.
