PE and Sport Premium at Broadway East

What is the Sport Premium?

Since 2013 the Government has provided funding of £150 million per annum to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - is allocated to primary school headteachers. It is 'ring-fenced' which means that it can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools. On 6th February 2014 the Prime Minister, David Cameron committed to contunue the funding for the Primary PE & Sport Premium until 2020.

What do we already do?

We are delighted to be able to invest in sport at Broadway East as we believe that participation in sport can change the lives of children, giving them great opportunities to be fit, happy and well, both now and in the future. We have always ensured that children have two hours of quality PE teaching every week, including swimming, and we already provide many extra opportunities for groups and individuals on top of our planned curriculum. Since September 2016, we have increased the amount of physical activity further so that all children are as active as possible for as long as the school day allows. In the document below you can read about how we use the Sport Premium and how it benefits our pupils at Broadway East First School.

In June 2018 we were delighted to be awarded the School Games Gold Award in recognition for our participation in competition and on-going commitment to school sport and PE!
